THE INTERVIEW&nbsp; What inspired you to join these workshops as the Secret Workshopper, and what were your expectations beforehand? I joined these workshops as the Secret Workshopper because I always love Lucy’s artwork, and she is one of my favorite artists! How wonderful it would be to draw and paint with her! I expected to learn many things about colors because l always find Lucy’s use of colors is very unique and touching. How did these workshops contribute to your artistic growth and development? These workshops compelled me to slow down and focus on the painting. Can you share any specific skills or techniques you learned during the workshop series that you found particularly valuable?&nbsp; I've learned to keep the brush relatively dry when painting in watercolor. This way, I can control the colors better. I've also learned how to paint a very light color: take very little pigment onto the brush, wipe off the extra water and paint with tissue paper. Did the workshops provide a supportive and engaging environment for learning and creativity? If so, how? Yes! This course of workshops are very encouraging and engaging. They create a safe and supportive space for errors, mistakes, and experiments. What aspects of the workshops did you find most enjoyable and rewarding? I really enjoy the time we spent drawing together. It was very nourishing and relaxing. While painting and drawing are usually solitary activities, doing it together creates a sense of community. I appreciate the interactions that happened during these sessions. In what ways did the workshops help you overcome any creative challenges or obstacles you were facing? I used to draw too quickly. After attending these workshops, I have learned to approach my drawings and paintings with a more comprehensive consideration of the entire composition, carefully evaluating each element. Did you find the workshop content relevant and applicable to your artistic goals and interests? Yes, the workshops focused on still life in daily life. Objects can hold many memories and meanings, sometimes lasting longer than us. I am very interested in drawing inspiration from daily life for my artistic practice. What advice would you give to someone considering attending a similar workshop series? I find it very helpful to practice after the workshops. This way, you can absorb what you have been taught and make it your own. Overall, how would you describe the impact of these workshops on your artistic journey? In terms of skills, these workshops are like a treasure trove that I can always revisit and draw inspiration from in my future artistic endeavors. It was here that Gogoliuk discovered their affinity for watercolour. They explore themes of fragmentation and connection, navigating the intricate interplay between form and emotion.&nbsp; Through their art, Gogoliuk confronts the complexities of trauma, memory, and healing, inviting viewers into a world of introspection and empathy. With every light square they shift darkness to light. They continue to draw inspiration from bizarre minutae of everyday life and infuse it with imaginative colour and form in an attempt to find beauty in the small painful moments of the everyday.&nbsp; Artist Statement: In the fluidity of paint, I find a language of emotion and experience.
