Block 8: Painting from Children’s Art

This workshop series delves into the innate artistic expression of children, examining how their uninhibited approach to composition, colour, and mark-making can inspire us. By studying the spontaneity and confidence evident in children's artwork, we aim to incorporate these powerful visual elements into our own creative practice. we will explore how children naturally arrange elements in their artwork, focusing on their instinctive sense of balance, space, and visual storytelling. We will look at the bold and often unexpected colour choices and mark-making, and how these contribute to the artwork's emotional resonance. Throughout this workshop series, participants will gain insights into the direct, free, and confident nature of children's art, learning to harness these qualities to enhance their own artistic expression.
